Abstract

The Coherence Quantification Index (CQI) is the formal mathematical instrument for measuring coherence states across biological, physical, and systemic domains. It serves as the core measurement tool of the entire Christos platform — the instrument through which every claim, protocol, and prediction in the framework becomes empirically testable.

The CQI formalizes coherence as a scalar quantity ranging from 0.0 (complete incoherence) to 1.0 (maximum coherence), with clinically and physically significant threshold values identified at multiple points across this range. The index integrates measurements from multiple independent domains — cardiovascular, neurological, bioelectric, acoustic, and electromagnetic — into a single composite coherence score that reflects the overall organizational state of any complex system.

The framework draws on over 25,000 published heart rate variability studies as the primary empirical foundation, establishing HRV coherence as the most extensively validated proxy measure of biological coherence available. The CQI extends this foundation across additional measurement domains and proposes the establishment of coherence as the sixth vital sign in clinical medicine — alongside pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.

The paper presents the complete mathematical formalization of the CQI, the measurement protocols for each component domain, the threshold values associated with health and disease states, and eight testable predictions with detailed experimental protocols and statistical analysis plans. The CQI Technical Specification (MS-05) provides the engineering-level implementation detail for applying the index in clinical and research settings.
